Access options for JSTOR

JSTOR offers several other access options for the content in the digital library.

Institutional access: Check JSTOR’s Institution Finder. Your school or local public library may offer JSTOR access to its patrons. Some colleges and universities also allow walk-in access in their communities.

Read online for free: Create a free MyJSTOR account and read up to 6 articles per month. Look for the “Read Online (Free)” button above the article.

Open access ebooksWe have partnered with leading publishers on a project to make open access ebooks available on the JSTOR platform. 

JPASS: Get access to more than 2,000 journals on JSTOR by signing up for a JPASS. You can read unlimited articles and choose the download plan right for you. Plans start at $19.50.

Early Journal Content: The Early Journal Content is free on JSTOR, and includes journal articles published in the United States before 1923 and articles published in other countries before 1870.

Alumni Access: A growing number of colleges and universities offer JSTOR access to their alumni. Check to see if you alma mater is on the list

JSTOR Daily: Our online magazine offers engaging editorial analysis of the news, tapping into scholarship made available to all. Articles cited in each piece are free to read via the Daily link.
